The best news of the decade for web developers has finally been announced.
Internet Explorer will only be supporting it’s current browser, IE11 from here on out.
So what does this mean for you?
Update Your Browser and Technology
The biggest reason to update is that Internet Explorer will no longer be releasing security updates. If you don’t upgrade you leave yourself and your business vulnerable. You have the choice of using Internet Explorer 11, Google Chrome or Firefox. I’ve personally enjoyed Chrome for its speed, simplicity and design.
If you are using technology that depends on these older browsers you may have to consider an upgrade to the technology you are using.
This is the biggest downside to the recent news from Microsoft.
Less Web Development Costs
On the bright side, you will no longer have a need to support these older browsers which means less web development costs if you were previously supporting them. Over time, your user data will change significantly to newer browsers. This opens up so many more possibilities for your web team as they can take advantage of newer technologies that are not supported in these older IE versions. Many of which can speed up and streamline the development process.
If you are currently running an older version of Internet Explorer now is the time to update your browser to get the best web browsing experience possible. Not only will this keep you out of harm’s way from a security standpoint, you’ll see websites the way they were meant to be viewed and in most cases have a faster browsing experience.
